Profile

Counter-case panels

Istanbul 13th Heavy Penal Court (file 2015/366) and Istanbul 14th Heavy Penal Court (file 2016/304) jointly ran the counter-case. For detailed analysis of the decisions, see: reasoning critique.

Magistrate courts

The magistrate courts established by the 2014 statutory amendment later became the judicial units evaluating the detention and arrest requests directed at the police chiefs.

Judges who issued the wiretap orders

Süleyman Karaçöl and Menekşe Uyar, who issued wiretap orders in the Dec 25 file, were later acquitted in their own trials. Their acquittal is a judicial confirmation of the legality of the wiretap orders.
